Ruth Franklin

Ruth Franklin is an English artist born in Kent in 1964 and raised on England’s east coast in Suffolk. She obtained a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art and Painting at Brighton Art School. At Brighton, she came into contact with many established English artists.

In 1994 Ruth moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she currently lives and works. In 1996 she had her first one-woman show in the US at Gallery 71 which proved very successful for her. That year her work was featured in Architectural Digest, Metropolitan Home, House & Garden, Elle Décor, and Gourmet Magazine as part of a campaign for Larson-Juhl, the world’s largest framing and molding manufacturer.

While many artists use pastels for preliminary drawings and sketches, Franklin restores pastel to its rightful place as a major medium. With pastel she creates rich, bold colors and remarkable atmosphere which are hallmarks of her unique and personal style.
